Performance of the Arctic Sun

Induction

Treatment can begin within minutes. One the patented ArcticGel Pads and the patient temperature probe are in place the target temperature is set and the Arctic Sun goes does the rest.

Maintenance

Once the Arctic Sun senses body is approaching the target temperature, the water temperature in the pads begins to increase and the device switches to maintenance mode to ensure the target temperature is maintained for the prescribed period of time.

Re-warming

The re-warmimg rate can be programmed as degrees per hour or set to be accomplished over a pre-set duration. The Arctic Sun can rewarm a patient as slow as .05°C per hour.

Normothermia

The ArcticGel™ pads can be left in place for up to 5 days. The Arctic Sun can be used to maintain normothermia following the rewarming phase to help prevent rebound hyperthermia.

The Arctic Sun performs well during all phases of cooling: induction, maintenance and re-warming:
