The ArcticGel Pads are the key component that sets the Arctic Sun apart from all other cooling methods available in the market place. The pads feature a thin hydrogel coating which ensures that they maintain contact with the patient’s skin throughout the treatment. This direct contact facilitates a very efficient transfer of heat away from the body.

To initiate treatment, the pads are placed directly on the patient’s skin (two torso pads and two leg pads). This non-invasive approach is not only effective, but also safe.

The Arctic Sun ensures rapid induction of the therapy. The skin-friendly ArcticGel™ Pads can be placed on the patient in less than 10 minutes. The pads do not interfere with patient care, require approximately 40% body surface area and help to reserve vascular access for other treatments.

Procedure Friendly

• Defibrillation safely completed during cooling procedures

• Radiolucent – use during cardiac catheterization, CT, and X-ray procedures

• Pads are MRI safe

Thermal Transfer: Highly Effective

• ArcticGel is water-based and highly conductive resulting in efficient thermal transfer approximating water immersion

Fluid Flow Pattern: Leak Proof Technology™

• Patented Negative Pressure—water is pulled through the pads

• If punctured, pads will not leak
